Heritage College Events

Since joining the team in the Heritage College, I've been privileged to plan and execute large scale signature and celebratory events. With two campus openings and events coast to coast, there's never a dull moment!

The Heritage College celebrate 40 Years of training medical students, a year of events which included a statewide birthday party and culminated with recognition from the governor and state legislators at the state house. When our original coordinator for the event left for another position, I took the reins and saw the project to completion. It took coordination with multiple legislative offices, alumni, state boards, and included a breathtaking event in the statehouse rotunda. Article Here

Conferences

During my tenure at Ohio University, I have been involved with numerous conferences that utilise our event space and catering. The Brazilian Executive Seminar requires a week of events, typically four in a day, with an elegant evening to cap off their stay in Ohio. I have participated with event set-up, catering, managing student staff, interacting with the clients, and event clean-up.

In my current position, I also aid in the planning process with menu, timeline, and communication with staff to ensure that the details of the event are ready.

Fundraising

October is a special time in Athens Ohio. In order to capitalize on the interest in Halloween, I created the Athens Zombie Pageant to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation. Turn out was great, we were able to negotiate for free space from the Athens Community Center, and I partnered with the local Chi Omega Fraternity and Beauties of the Nation for volunteer support. Multiple newspapers carried information about our event, and we were interviewed by the local radio station as well.

Business Meetings

A meeting for the purpose of conducting business is actually more complex that it sounds. The needs of the group, including technology, catering, seating style, and accomidations for out of town guests must all be assessed. During my time at Tall Timbers and Ohio University, I have planned, set up, hosted, and served many business meetings. These have ranged from small to 100 guests, and could have included full meals or simply beverage service. Occasionally, the stakes are incredibly high and the business matter is one of utmost importance. In those circumstances, total perfection is required so that the attendees may focus solely on matters at hand.

Weddings

To date, I have been involved with over 450 weddings. My level of involvement ranges from planner and coordinator based out of the event venue, to working as an independent coordinator for clients.

My clients have been diverse, and their budgets have been between $1,500 and $35,000. I have planned for every season, both indoor and outdoor events, and have had as little as two weeks to prepare for a wedding. Their guest counts have ranged from three to 400, and services I coordinated included catering, decor, floral, bakery, rental linens, and staff. I have served as photographer for over 200 weddings since the founding of my boutique photography label: elizabeth joy photography
